  12. I have succesfully installed a 68882 (40Mhz, PGA-type) FPU on the standard
  13. 68030 board. My system runs fine :). So what's the problem?

  15. The problem is that I would like to run the FPU at 40MHz. I tried to
  16. install a 40MHz oscillator (in position U103), and putting the jumper
  17. (J101) in the correct position.
  18. The only thing I get is a flashing screen when I boot (every second my
  19. screen changes its color to black or bright green). The manual (Addendum
  20. tom the A4000 User's Guide) says that the oscillator should be placed over
  21. the socket. My processor-board don't seem to have a socket, so I soldered
  22. the oscillator on the processor-board (with the sharp corner at the lower
  23. right).

  25. Has anyone done this succesfully, or is it impossible. Since the FPU now
  26. runs at 25MHz, there must be a problem with the crystal (I think it is).
  27. It could be that the crystal has gone to the world of the ever excisting
  28. computers.

  30. Is it possible to test the crystal with a little circuit (I can get a
  31. frequency-counter and oscilloscoop). I just don't want to solder and
  32. desolder the crystal for many times.
