- Hi,
-
- I have succesfully installed a 68882 (40Mhz, PGA-type) FPU on the standard
- 68030 board. My system runs fine :). So what's the problem?
-
- The problem is that I would like to run the FPU at 40MHz. I tried to
- install a 40MHz oscillator (in position U103), and putting the jumper
- (J101) in the correct position.
- The only thing I get is a flashing screen when I boot (every second my
- screen changes its color to black or bright green). The manual (Addendum
- tom the A4000 User's Guide) says that the oscillator should be placed over
- the socket. My processor-board don't seem to have a socket, so I soldered
- the oscillator on the processor-board (with the sharp corner at the lower
- right).
-
- Has anyone done this succesfully, or is it impossible. Since the FPU now
- runs at 25MHz, there must be a problem with the crystal (I think it is).
- It could be that the crystal has gone to the world of the ever excisting
- computers.
-
- Is it possible to test the crystal with a little circuit (I can get a
- frequency-counter and oscilloscoop). I just don't want to solder and
- desolder the crystal for many times.
-
- Please reply via E-mail (ez@expograph.nl).
-
- Edgar.
